EDIT: Be sure to check out this post (http://www.toontownalley.com/forums/showthread.php?8374-Efficiently-Obtaining-Merits&p=226820#post226820) for updated data.
New chart here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1RVJJGv-IH5aVlselJUWDV5Vk0).
New spreadsheet here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Eol3HlLHY5ZSuEemIxkAXtWVFvk-wfqsYn6yk1xxpsE).
Lately I've been working on maxing sellbot, which has obviously entailed numerous factories. I decided to start timing how long it took to complete both short and long factories and then compiled the data onto a spreadsheet to get an average time for each. Then I used those averages to figure out the most time efficient combinations of shorts and longs to obtain the needed merits for every level of the Mr. Hollywood suit.

You can see the chart here (http://www.toontownalley.com/forums/redirector.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdrive.google.com% 2Fopen%3Fid%3D0B1RVJJGv-IH5V3VtbERPSlZNZWc).

Also, for anyone interested in how I calculated the best combinations, here's (http://www.toontownalley.com/forums/redirector.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdrive.google.com% 2Fopen%3Fid%3D1WEKK91xOXhoqzQFSiOzV0DgQvpN-RTkuGxoVobjJJAk) the spreadsheet I used.

I only took into account the shortest and longest factory runs possible, so I'm sure that there may be some more efficient routes, but I didn't want to dive into all the different possible paths you can take in the factory. Hopefully this helps some people out in getting their factories done more quickly!

Wow, this is actually super interesting!

How long did it take you to make this?

Useful guide! I prefer side shorts as they seem to take less time than shorts (I've heard of people finishing maxed merits in a under an hour using these) while giving more merits but great job on the chart (sun)

I don't believe in doing long factories, except for the 680 set. Side shorts are the way to go and the thread I linked is a great explanation of why!

What path do you take for side shorts? The path detailed in the thread you linked gives 584 merits, though they say it gives you 520. The 520 path wouldn't include the boiler room battle. I'm trying to get times for the side shorts so I can figure out exactly what is the most efficient.

It depends on the set of merits I have to accomplish. For example, if I need 1520 merits I wouldn't do three 584 factories I'd do three 520 factories. The 520 factories go side

entrance>both pipe room battles>ware house>silos

The 584 is the same except after the pipe room you go to the boiler and then after that you go to the warehouse.

There are also times when you don't even need 520 and can skip a battle in the pipe room (reducing your merit amount to 464). You may be asking yourself this: why not just do a front entrance short? The reason is it's less running to enter by the side entrance. Efficient factories are never by the front entrance imo.

It takes me like 7 minutes to do a side short.

Edit: So by comparison if you were to do two longs for it (you have it at 11.8 min so im rounding up to 12) that'd take 24 minutes whereas 3 side shorts would take 21 minutes. (by my own timings)

I use the 520 path because that's what I learned (and it allows for a sound miss) but I don't know if it's more efficient than the 584 route. I would definitely be curious to find out!

I think it depends on the merit set. I wouldn't do 584s for max merits bc that's 10 factories whereas 520s it's 11 factories (or 7 520s and 4 464s). That's only one more factory and if you count up all the extra battles you're doing in 584 you're basically doing that extra factory and then some. LOL. However for the 1730 set I'd do three 584s.

I'm gonna do runs for all of 464, 520, and 584 side shorts. Then I'll crunch some numbers and figure out the best combinations of each. Should have results in a day or two. :)

Dan brings up great points that I would have touched upon myself, but no where near as much detail as he went into. Thank you for the data, and I hope to see new data with the side paths that I prefer using!

Alright, so I've compiled data for the 464, 520, and 584 paths of side shorts. I've found that, as Mariel said, side shorts are the way to go. To put things into perspective, on max merits if you did the traditional 7 longs and 1 short, you'll average approximately 89.37 minutes worth of factories. However, if you did 10 side shorts (five of the 584 path ones and five of the 520 path ones, which is what I found to be most efficient) you'll only spend an average of 68.52 minutes inside factories. That's a difference of nearly 21 minutes! The only time that it's worth doing a long is when you need 680 merits, and even then doing two side shorts won't take too much longer. Doing shorts through the front entrance is never efficient.

I've created a new chart which you can find here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1RVJJGv-IH5aVlselJUWDV5Vk0).

And once again, here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Eol3HlLHY5ZSuEemIxkAXtWVFvk-wfqsYn6yk1xxpsE) is the spreadsheet with all of the data for those interested.

I'm fairly certain that the combinations I have in the chart now are practically the most efficient way to obtain your merits. I plan on going through a similar process with cogbucks, jury notes, and stock options, so keep an eye out for those threads in the future! Also, I wanted to give a big thanks to Mariel for detailing the side shorts paths.

I usually do 5 584 factories, and 5 520s so I don't have to do the extra one. It'd probably be the same amount of time if you were to do 11 520s, but it's less running if I'm running 2 toons.

Thank you for compiling all this data! This is a great resource for those who are looking for the fastest way to factory.
